  • HISTORY ASPECTS:
  • The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19S Farmer C is a Soviet-built supersonic jet fighter aircraft that was developed in the early 1950s. It was the first Soviet production aircraft capable of supersonic speeds. The MiG-19S was operated by the Voyenno Vozdushnye Sily (VVS) or the Soviet Air Force. Red 37 is the markings for a specific MiG-19S aircraft operated by the Soviet Air Force. The MiG-19S was first deployed in the late 1950s and saw action in a number of conflicts including the Vietnam War and the Six-Day War. During the Vietnam War the MiG-19S was primarily used for ground attack missions and was responsible for shooting down several U.S. aircraft. The MiG-19S was also used by the Soviet Union during the Sino-Soviet border conflict of 1969 and in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.The MiG-19S was known for its high speed and agility making it a formidable opponent in air-to-air combat. However it had a relatively short service life and was phased out of service in the late 1960s and early 1970s replaced by newer and more advanced aircraft.T
